Environment / Water / Waste-WaterWater is life – Contaminants with more and more complexity pollute our water. On the other hand, the quality of the purified water should increase. Thus, the requirements differ in the sectors of environment (i.e. waste incineration plants), water supply, and water disposal. |

Product solutions
- ACRON - as plant chronicler for the reporting system and disturbance, service, and maintenance.-Proficy iFIX - as scaleable SCADA + visualisation system for plants, designed as small single workstations, as well as large redundantly structured networks with up to 200 clients per SCADA server.
- MelSYS – the notification and alarm system, for plants, which operate round-the-clock but without being always occupied by personnel.
- ODP - Open Data Port, to collect telecontrol information via GPRS from different outstations, i.e. wells, pump stations, transformer stations ec., and to provide the process control system and logging with this information.
- PLATIF - as platform for information and organisation, for the organisation of operating procedures, increase of efficiency and transparency.

Waste-Water
Visualisation SCADA/HMI Due to the scalability of the visualisation iFIX from Ge, plants with a wide range in scale and with different requirements can be projected. This starts with plants, where a visualisation already is necessary i.e. 10.000 PE (personal equivalent) and leads to redundantly designed multi-position systems for plants with a scale larger than 1 million PE.
Reporting System/Logging The waste-water sector in particular makes specific demands, especially on the reporting system. Here, the guidelines and recommendations of the DWA (Deutsche Vereinigung für Wasserwirtschaft, Abwasser und Abfalle e.V.), previously ATV, often apply. Thus, a basic requirement is the data consolidation into 15 minute and 2 hour means/averages, as well as the permanent correction of measured values and the input of laboratory data. Furthermore, complex calculations of certain parameters are necessary like the COD and percentiles. The calculation of the yearly amount of waste-water and its availability as a report must also be guaranteed. Additionally, there is a necessity for daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and special reports, which can be easily achieved by ACRON – the plant chronicler. There is also an option for group solutions, which involves combining data from different waste-water plants into the same reports i.e. for benchmarking reasons. Reports according to the DWA M260, H260, H207 RÜB, Hirthammer, Eigenkontrollverordnung (EKVO) (percentiles) are simply feasible.
Notification System As, the plants are operating round-the-clock without being necessarily occupied by personnel 24 hours a day, the notification system MelSYS is recommended. With MelSYS it is possible to forward alarms and messages to arbitrary receivers, i.e. mobile phone, so that the operating personnel recognises the alarm and also is able to acknowledge it.
Outstations It is necessary to integrate information into the control technology and logging, especially with spatially widely spread constructions, i.e. pump stations. Here, GPRS is to be considered as an ideal transmission medium, since only the exchanged data volume and not the connection time must be charged. With ODP (Open Data Port), a simple and effective solution is provided for meeting this requirement. Due to the connection of various control systems, i.e. Siemens, Phoenix Contact, PANASONIC, WAGO, VIPA, Schneider..., time stamped alarms and messages can be sorted into the visualisation/logging in the correct chronological order, and then evaluated.
Water
The requirements of the water supply sector are similar to the requirements of the waste-water sector but with the reporting system different parameter are relevant. In the water supply sector, especially supply rates and flow rates through the pipe system are of special importance. As visualisation, the free scaleable visualisation/SCADA system iFIX is predestined. ACRON is an ideal solution for protocols and laboratory values. In off-duty times, when no personnel is present, the notification and alarm system MelSYS can be used for monitoring the plant. The connection of i.e. pump stations can be simply and effectively realised by ODP (Open Data Port). The outstations are economically integrated into the control technology/logging by GPRS.
Environment
The environmental sector includes a multitude of sub categories. For instance, there is the waste management (landfills, sorting plants, or waste incinerators). Using the example of a waste incineration, it is shown, what kind of products could come into operation.
First of all, there is the visualisation, which communicates with the process by corresponding drivers i.e. Industrial Ethernet. The visualisation edits the data for an easy use and also displays them. Of course protocols are here also necessary, i.e. according to the “Technical Instruction on Air Quality Control”. Prospective, the acquisition and logging of the CO2-emissions will become more important, especially in regards to the emissions trading.
